Microsoft Word Student & Teacher edition. Are there really regulations to it's use?

Regulations to it's use vs. Standard Office?. My wife is in need of Word, just wondering if I can purchase S&T ed. and use it without any problems.

-thanks

Generally, education software cannot be used for any commercial purposes. That should be the only limitation.

Student/teacher version can be used on upto 3 machines is the only regulation i've heard of actually. We sell it at best buy and there isn't any sort of "check" we have to do beforehand.

Make sure you read the EULA... That's the only way you can confirm what you can and can't legally use it for.

How would ms know if you are using it improperly other than by installing on more machines than allowed
and then needing a call to activate it ?? ... I don't see how they can tell what you are using it for be it for
personal or business use ... unless it Watermarks or embeds an id on printed copy that says Student Edition

Unlike AutoCAD, I doubt MS marks documents made with education-only releases. However, non-commercial use is technically the only limitation.

Read the EULA.

It doesn't matter if Microsoft knows if you are using it to run a corporation, or do your home work... if you are using it in a way other than is stated approved in the EULA it is a breach of the license agreement.

I see what you are saying and I have a retail copy, all my point was is that there is no way to
prove how you use it or enforce it for that matter

Yes, you can do this.

It's not within the liscense agreement to do so, but there is no way of telling.
