Hello everyone,

I have this strange problem with Word 2007 running on Vista. It started lately. When i doubleclick a word document from my desktop or other location, word opens but does not open the document. Than it says Microsoft Word is not working and it crushes.

I tried deleting the normal.dot file from Templates but does not help. Tried installing SP1 for Office 2007 and every single available update but no go. It looks like there is no difference whether the file is .doc or .docx it reacts the same. Reinstalling Office does not help also

If i open word and then open the document it opens it but crashes on closing. This is like second time this happens to me. First it happened few moths ago because of what i reinstalled my Vista.

Pleas help a fella out.

Thanks

Hey guys, i managed to solve this issue and i LOVE to share with you all. So here is the deal.

It appears that registry entry is corrupted. Open a registry editor (regedt32) and navigate to this entry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Data

Than delete the whole entry. Don't be scared because next time you open Word, it will create the entry, but this time it's good.

Works like charm.!!!!

MechBgon, i tried system restore before but no good. Fore mentioned solved the problem

thanks for posting the fix you found. Nothing is more aggrivating than someone saying, fixed it and not posting the fix for the next person that runs into the problem.
