Hey guys, this is my second time installing a print server to my network and it's also the second time I've run into this problem.

My word document lags in intervals of about 10 seconds apart. The hourglass comes on and pauses my typing for about 2 seconds and resumes after. I'm pretty sure this is connected to my print server as this is the second time I've installed it and the second time I've experienced this problem.

I've tried installing the drivers again, taking off the printer as default to no avail. The only thing that works is deleting the printer from the options all together.

Any help?

What printer are you trying to share on the server? It's possible that the printer drivers don't like being shared, or you may not have the correct driver version installed for the server or for your client OS.

I've installed many different types and models of printers on SBS 2003 servers and have never seen the problem you are describing so I'm sorry I can't be more helpful than this.

The print servers I have used are standalone ones or ones built into a router. No dedicated computer servers.

I am using a Brother HL-1440 laser printer.

I apologize. I read "Word 2003" in your topic as "Server 2003". :)

Do you have the same problem with printer connected directly to your computer? My guess would be no, but this would eliminate the possibility of a problem with the printer or the print service on the computer.

Is the print server device wireless? You might be having problems with wireless interference when the computer tries to talk to the printer.

When I use my computer as a print server for other computers or connect it directly, no lag.

The first print server was a standalone one that I connected to my router, both Linksys branded. Wired print server connected to wireless router.

The current print server is a built-in US Robotics router/print server. Wired usb print server w/ wireless rotuer.

Both computers on wireless and computers connected through lan suffer the lag.

Thanks for the help btw!
