HOw can #17 use IIS with Linux?

how can linuxsucks.org be hosted by a linux box?

They leased a dedicated server which runs Linux, and was cost effective?

I can't get to that website. It might be down.

wouldnt that go against what they preach though? Cheaper or not, if you are going to preach it, at least try to practice it.

Maybe they thought linuxsucksasaworkstationos.com was too long? :) I don't think many people will deny that Linux is great for servers.

Why is Linux great for servers? What options does it have that other OS's do not?

Webservers that operate behind a caching system, load balancer, reverse proxy server or a firewall may sometimes report the operating system of the intermediate machine. Hence reports of 'Microsoft/IIS on Linux' may indicate that either the web server is behind a Linux server that is acting as a reverse proxy, or has configured the Akamai caching system such that the first request to the site goes to one of Akamai's servers [which run Linux], or as in the case of www.walmart.com has been configured to send a misleading signature

eBay uses IIS and I rarely see a problem with them...

But yeah... that is incredible.

1700 days is very impressive but you go to that site and it's got absolutely nothing going on. IIS sitting on a well built server crapping out html and the ocassional database query could sit up indefinitely also.
