Microsoft Wireless Optical for Bluetooth - Review

Looks pretty cool!

On my machine the Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer for Bluetooth did not skip or seem to hesitate as compared to a wired mouse. I took both the mouse and the keyboard completely across the room and both worked just fine ? the only problem was I couldn?t see the monitor to well! The technology works up to 30 feet / 9.1 meters from the transceiver. The technology from the non-Bluetooth wireless products only extended to 6 feet!

Looks like a something I'll look at when I need a wireless keyboard/mouse

OMG that keyboard looks AWESOME. Any chance we could get our hands on just the keyboard? And how messed up is that MS is trying to get people to upgrade to XP in such a manner?

Just Installed it. Works very well. The only issue I have with it is that the keys are semi-transparent and look a bit cheap. Ithought these were black when I saw the pic from MS website. The keys match the colour blue quite well but it doesn't quite look right. It may grow on me. Perhaps I should be bothered about the performance and to present it hasn't missed a beat...

Damn expensive though.

30 feet? Looks like range is being taken a touch too far.. I'm trying to think of a situation where i'll need to use the mouse 30ft away from the pc, and i'm coming up dry...

Still, the keyboard looks great, and the mouse almost perfect - if only it had a recharge cradle it'd be a must-buy for me. I've tried out the logitech mx-700 and loved it, but i think i prefer the overall shape of the MS mouse - on the mx700 the main buttons don't go right to the end, which would bmean changing the way i hold the mouse slightly. Plus both of them would mean switching to my right hand, but i'm right handed to begin with, so that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

boardrooms with long tables.

But I'm in the market for a Wireless Mouse and Keyboard. The problem is, do the regular wireless really only go 6 feet? See my HT room is 20 feet long, and my couch sits further back than 6 feet i think from my HDTV Widescreen. I was under the assumption that the wireless worked atleast till 10 feet? Might have to get this combo If that doesnt work

and big screens... 😉

From what i've heard regular wireless can go 25 feet, but average 10-12. So bluetooth may be the way to go. Perhaps you can find a store that lets you try them before you buy?

You can use the same bluetooth receiver to HotSync your bluetooth-equipped PDA - such as a Palm Tungsten-T. Thus, you might be sitting on a couch or at a table that is 30 feet away from your PC.
