Buy.com has the Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop 2.0 for $ 24.99 after a $ 20.00 rebate. I would prefer to get the split key version....but I thought this was a pretty good price.

I've installed several of the "Elite" models of Microsofts wireless optical desktop line for some executives here at our company. The keyboard runs off of 3x AAs and the mouse runs off of 2x AAs IIRC. You can use rechargables in the devices but neither the keyboard or mouse are directly rechargable.

Anyone know how well this works? I have the bluetooth one (a friend gave me his) and the mouse works like crap. It's not as smooth as my normal Explorer mouse. And there doesnt seem to be a way to set the standby time with it. Is this one better?

I'm waiting for a deal on the elite versions. The mouse on the regular and pro versions is uncomfortable for me (as it is designed for left and right handed people).
