Microsoft wireless mouse help request

I picked up a Wireless Keyboard/Mouse 700 v2.0 combination, and while it is a nice little set, it has one very annoying feature I can't alter. The mouse will go into sleep mode and I have to click the mouse once to wake it up and make it usable. Is there any way to shut this off? I've gone all over the Microsoft support site, you can't even find a listing for the 700 v2.0 on their site. Nothing on the net, either. So if anyone can help I'd appreciate it.
