How do you get it for $13.99? I added it to my cart and it says it is $29.87.

i bought this. it works ok, but doesn't have very good reception. even though it was only a few feet away, it still lost reception sometimes, so i moved the receiver to the top of my desk also

Yeah, I have an original wirless intellimouse explorer and the range isn't as good as my old old Logitch Wireless Mouseman Pro. I'm picking up a new one mainly for the extended battery life.

I can use mine on the other side of the room without any problems. If you put the receiver near a source of interference, you can expect poor reception. Otherwise, there shouldn't be any problem. Really, there's no reason why your receiver shouldn't be far from the mouse anyway.

Not to crap on the thread or anything, but I like my corded Intellimouse Explorer more than my wireless and it's the one I use day in day out. I bought a wireless one to support the home theater functionality of the computer, but I only use it when doing the front projection thing. Well, I use it too with Ghost from DOS because the USB corded one isn't seen, whereas the wireless mouse receiver plugs into the mouse port and IS seen in DOS. Interestingly, both mice work simultaneously in Windows, but the corded is the favorite. Reason I like the corded more is that the scroll wheel has a whole lot better feel.

I've found that proximity of the mouse to the receiver isn't so important as where I put the receiver. If it's on a metal case, it doesn't work sometimes.

Good deal at buy.com, but I'd rather have the mx510. Best gaming mouse I've ever used, and its only 29.99 at amazon. My ability to get accurate headshots in counter-strike has improved dramatically over my intellimouse explorer 3.0 ...

Office Depot B&M has these for $19.99 - $5 MIR. Price depends on color of mouse, the black one was still $49. There was one for $14.99, but it was really ugly. I got the Immersion for $19.99, it looks pretty good.

I still don't understand why you people are buying MS crap for the same price as well engineered logitech stuff.

MS hardware started out good with the wheel mouse (great invention) and the intellieye (also a great, MS invention) but logitech has taken them in quality and innovation the past 5 years or so. the natural keyboard quality has all gone downhill and I seem to be RMA'ing their mice left and right. almost ALL major OEMS, including dell, have shifted entirely to logitech offerings and no longer use MS products.

Another 'classic' example of what crap MS hardware is would be their ill-fated short lived networking products. They are all now discontinued without support. Sucks for the thousands of people who have their crappy routers that have to be hard-reset every 12 hours.

my microsoft optical mouse dont normally pass the one year life span...good thing they offer hassle free warranty, but it's still annoying. i've been wary of purchasing optical since bc of being afraid it'll die that quickly.

what i almost always do is get a new mouse from warranty 6 months in regardless to avoid hassles, because i know it can die anytime after that date....which it normally does.
