Microsoft Wireless G Router Trouble

I purchased the Microsoft Wireless G Router (MN-700) and the Microsoft Wireless PCI G Card. I have the router set up with one computer and the internet is working fine. I followed the instructions and installed the PCI card in my other computer, and it cannot connect to the network. It says it cannot find it.

I have followed every suggestion supplied by the help screen for the PCI card. MAC filtering is not enabled, the firewall is turned off, etc etc. The PC is about 100 feet away one floor beneath the router, so there should not be any problem with range.

I am basically stuck, with no idea what to do. Can anyone help me figure out what's wrong? I can answer any questions you need me to about the setup/configuration. Thanks in advance.

Strange problem. Maybe try turning on SSID broadcast? Turn off all of the security until you can get things going. You may need to phone Microsoft to get the thing configured properly; I had to do the same with my Linksys router.

How do I turn on SSID broadcast? Even a general idea of where to look for this setting would help.

Also, another problem it seems to have: when I log into the Base Station Management Tool, it says it needs to download an update. Every time I've tried to download the update, the download just quits (sits there at the same percentage). Then my internet won't work. I have to unplug the cable modem and plug it back in.

This is ridiculous, especially for something touted as being easy to just plug in and use.

Routers are rarely just "plug in and use" in my experience.

In my router, I punch "192.168.1.1" in my IE browser and it takes me to my router config. Yours is probably "192.168.0.1". If you open up a DOS prompt and type in "IPCONFIG", whatever your gateway is set to will be your router config.

My SSID broadcast option was under my "basic wireless settings" tab in the config.

As for the base station thing, of course, download the latest firmware manually from Microcrap and install it. That will hopefully solve that problem, and may in fact allow you to connect.
