Hi: My name is guitronics.I am a Microsoft/ Wintel addict.I've given up all but one archaic Intel processor (a P-75).I need direction on how I might get away, and stay away from mostly microsoft.

You see, I'm dual addicted.Microsoft is my drug of choice, and is the hardest addiction I have had to give up.I've made some small steps(use Eudora for e/mail),but I need someone with experiance in Operating Systems to guide me to a better way. I keep hearing about Linux, and it's variants, in particular: Mandrake.

I've also heard about BEOS.Any help for my desktop will be greatly appreciated. You see, with M$, I've become financially, morally, spiritually, physically;and psychologically bankrupt.

I've finally reached bottom.Rock bottom.Please help me.

Be is also bankrupt. So BeOS doesn't have much of a future left.

I'm not sure what your question is. I think you managed to answer your own question. Repartition, install Mandrake. Experiment. That is how one learns.

Nah, not on my workstation, its an Intel box, Linux/BSD fits better on x86 boxes IMO.
The guy sitting next to me is running a Sparc5 with Solaris though, that Sparc5 sure is one impressive piece of hardware, still with us after all these years :)
