Smoking, only 22 copies so this won't last long

Are you referring to the 22 new line? I thought that referred to # of sellers, not copies.

I'm guessing it's reduced because Vail is at RC. However, thanks to DE, may people would prefer v1.

Actually that's a coincidence, at the time of my post there was 22 copies for sale, now there are only 8 left. However it says more on the way.

As for Vail not having DE, there's a handful of third party companies/developers that are going to provide an addon that will work the same...for a price.

I would not count on it. File system is rather tricky business. Microsoft managed to succeed only once, with NTFS. All the promises of new object oriented file systems and in-memory databases for files never got off the ground. Even DE is half baked. If you enable shadow copy to get versioning of files and DE has duplication on a share you would get frequent file corruption. That is the reason HP disabled shadow copy in WHS servers.

I liked the idea of having native Windows authentication and totally transparent PC backup but the flaws in WHS are just way too big. Something is really wrong with MS design and development process lately. I guess it was much easier to get talented people from DEC/Banyan when stock price kept going up. Probably old talent followed the money (stock price growth) and new talent does not see much upside at MS.
