All Your Brainwaves Are Belong To Us
Microsoft has plans for your brain. Details inside.

March 26, 2002 - IBVA Technologies is bringing its brain-to-computer interface to Xbox. By hooking up some do-dads to your noggin, you'll be able to experience some truly interactive gameplay. While this offers some interesting possibilities, it also seems a bit creepy.

"We've been waiting for this for over a decade," Drew DeVito, mad scientist of IBVA. "There is finally a consumer product that has the power to do everything we've always wanted to do with braintracking in the home." Though the press release containedno maniacal laughter, we can only assume it was included in spirit.

DeVito went on to say, "We can bring hard core brain tracking technology to the Xbox." Is there such a thing as casual brain tracking? So what can gamers expect from this technology? "If you're racing along in...Rallisport, and your concentration is broken, our system will pick that up and kick in the handbrake to spin your control out of your hands." This is good news, because Rallisport is not challenging enough on its own.

This technology could have some seriously cool uses, but it will be up to developers to step up to the plate and use it. We likely won't see anything from this until next year, but we'll keep you informed on any games or peripherals utilizing the technology.
