Best Buy sales flyer 10/1 thought 10/7 has the Microsoft USB Wheel Mouse Optical for $24.99
I am confused  , the picture in the ad looks like the IntelliMouse Optical, are they the same?

Sounds like the same thing. Sounds like a sweet pricematching opportunity at staples, buy 2 for $99.**, use 25 off 75 coupon, then pm each unit to 24.99, net cost of $25 for two optical mice:). Coupon should work as they usually let you apply the coupon to the pre-PM price and then lower it for the PM.

I actually went to best buy yesterday (Friday) and they had it for 24.97. It's a clearance item not a sale item. But however, they were completely gone.

For those of you who don't know, this is the regular microsoft mouse with the intellieye not the ones with the internet buttons on the sides.

Oh it is, too bad. But on the bright side you can buy it, take it home, smash it with a jackhammer(or break it in a less conspicuous way), and return it to MS and they'll send you the newer Intellimouse Optical.

Should I try to buy the mice from local store or from the Staples' website? Can anyone explain how you can price match the bestbuy price? (since they don't have the ads online)
Thanks

No don't buy from Staples. It's not the same product, so you can't pricematch it. Staples only sells the Intellimouse Optical and Explorer, which have the buttons on the side and are silverish colored. The ones Best Buy are selling are the white discontinued lines of optical mice.

There are two different MS optical mice on sale at BB. The first is on clearance, and it's the older model Intellimouse with Intellieye that is exactly like the older MS Mouse 2.0 (with a wheel) and is USB/PS2. That is selling for $24.50, I believe. The second mouse is the newer Intellimouse Optical which uses the newer optical technology (33% faster, is what they say) and has the grey strip on the bottom and a rougher coating (older one is smooth white). This one is on sale for $24.99. It does not have the buttons on the side though.

AndrewR - I rarely use the side buttons on my Logitech wheel mouseman so would I be better off buying the newer/faster optical mouse since I don't care about the side buttons?

RossMan: I like the shape of the MS mice, but it's a matter of personal preference. I have only used one Logitech, an older PS/2 with the side button, and I never found it very useful (it doesn't have a wheel, though, which is what damned it to my junk box). Some people like the optical mice, others hate them. I think they work great and have had no trouble with them (I replaced the older Intellimouse with this new one), including for gaming.

blastoise: I believe that it's D66-00001, but I have to verify that (going off of memory).
