What sort of return could they expect on $2bn? You don't buy the shit when it's at it's prime, you buy it before.

Congrats to the minecraft people if they accept this offer. I don't see why the fuck Microsoft would sling this much money at them but Mojang should take the money and run!

Notch already has more money than he cares for. He ain't selling. Oh, and even if Minecraft is a one hit wonder, it's a best selling one hit wondering. The only game that has sold more copies is Wii Sports.

That's probably the plan. They're dumping mad cash because Sony has been eating them alive this generation. Whether it's worth $2 billion? Would take years to turn over enough revenue. Did Microsoft get some of that Zuckerburg money?
 
I wonder if Satya Nadella's yearly physical includes a mental evaluation. I almost feel embarrassed for Microsoft employees.

I wouldn't be surprised if next takeover target for Nardella is Beenz.com, Daily Radar and Heat.net. lol?

They could put 2 billion to work and generate a risk free return of 65million a year. It makes no sense to buy this company that nets 100 million a year.

or for higher short term risk.
For that they would be much better off to put 2 billion into a delta hedged equity portfolio that tracks the overall market and generate a superior cashflow, better than 100million with a fraction of the risk and significant liquidity as well.

The CEO must be smoking some medicinal marijuana.

in my opinion, microsoft is one company that really, really makes their games complete. polished.

maybe not AWESOME OMFGBBQ but you can count on them having everything in the game you'd want. Look at the Age Of- games.

Notch started work on minecraft, then as soon as it started selling he quit doing real developing and just filled it with flowers (the hats equivalent in minecraft).

In my dreams, microsoft will make a game called minecraft 2, which is exactly like minecraft 1, except there is real advancement (mobs become thougher, smarter as nights go by) and there will be a real endgame (build a rocket, or some other machine to take you back to civilization).

And i will play it over and over and over.
