I've always had great experiences with support, but my current experience takes this a step further. Mind you, this is developer support, so the experiences may vary between end-user support and my own. I've been chasing a bug for the past week (can't say specifically where the bug is located yet), and they've gone above and beyond to help us out. They've trudged through a 160mb memory dump, countless log files, and now another process dump. The guy who's helping me out even gave me his home phone to call him over the weekend when I catch the next exception, so I can give him yet another memory dump.

I consider this excellent support, and I had to pass it on. I've worked with many development teams when integrating with their product, and MS is always the shining light in the bunch when it comes to response.

:)

I remember I found a big bug in Visual C++ and I didn't even get a thank you :(

I'll vouch for their hardware tech support.

My optical mouse went bad and I called them up, went through the RMAing process and was told they were backlogged 4-6 weeks on the product. Then 3 days later I got a brand new optical mouse. Plus, they never asked for my old one back!

good for MicroSoft. At least their spending the huge amounts of money we pay on decent tech support.

I have only called them once, when my Intelli mouse Explorer was dying. They hooked me up with a brand new one, free 2 day shipping. All they wanted was my adress and the serial number on the bottom of the mouse. No other questions asked. Pretty nice.

I've called them once for end user support. The wait on hold was under 10 minutes (late afternoon), the guy was very helpfull, and spent three hours trouble shooting my problem. We found out it was not Windows causing my problems (random freezes in IE/would freeze every time I opened sysinfo), but my video drivers. (Hercules) I loaded the nVidia ref drivers, and that cleared it up.

You're lieing! Its impossible that MS could have any real support! Don't they suck? Aren't they evil? Aren't they trying to take over the world? L1n(_)X 43VER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It seems the only vagrants in the MS world are VARs and OEMs (Dell excluded because we all know Michael Dell is Bill Gates' personal love slave).

If they didn't have such a crappy product they wouldn't need to have special support team. That's why Linux Rocks. J/K!!!! I really don't have a preference of one vs. the other--they each have their purpose. Glad to see you got results with MS. I also had a good experience with MS intellimouse explorer replacement, called up, gave serial, got a new mouse no questions asked.

They also give out replacement CD keys over the phone, you just have to be able to tell them what the CD looks like.
