Microsoft staging OPENGL vs DirectX War?

I have windows xp pro and a geforce2 ti video card. When I use the latest video driver provided by microsoft all my games work beautifully, except games that were programmed using OPENGL(mostly 3d shooting games like half-life and jedi knight) in fact, these games won't even LOAD because microsofts driver evidently doesn't even support OPEN GL.

So I went to nvidia.com and downloaded the latest detenator driver, now all my games will run, but games that run on directx now crash about once an hour. I get a blue screen exception caused by nv4_disp.dll.

Does anyone know of a good 3rd party driver that will run both opengl and direct X?

get the latest dets from nvidia install them even if they don't pass whql. make sure and uninstall the video adapter and then reboot... then update the driver. if that doesn't work, remove it again and use default driver... "if it ain't broken, don't fix it"
