I'm setting up a server at my office and according to the powers that know more about this than I do, I need the following software and licensing:

On my main server, Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 Premium
(since it's more affordable than buying Windows Server 2003, exchange server 2003, and sql server 2005 or 2006 seperately)

10 user client access license

Then on my terminal server, Windows server 2003 with a server license, and 7 terminal server licenses.

Does that make sense? What would be the most affordable way to do this? I realize you can pirate it, I realize you can get an education version, and the next best thing I've found is this link: Action Pack Subscription, but I haven't figured out how that works yet.

Any suggestions would be appreciated so that I don't have to spend the farm on licensing.

sounds like you are down to the minimums right now.

SBS 2003 is a lot of bang for the buck given the stuff that's in it.

If you want a separate terminal server the minimums would be the server license and the terminal licenses. Dig around but I was under the impression that XP *pro* came with a terminal license already...it's been a while since I was on the purchasing end of this stuff.

The CALs are kinda expensive but once you have them you are set. You can add more servers all day long and not need new CALs.

Can't use the action pack for what you are after :( An action pack is basically just a buttload of every license available for one very tiny price. The catch: it's licensed to one person only. The intention is similar to msdn: here, go play with all of our technology for almost free just don't use it as a way to scam us out of money when you go to put something in production.
