Microsoft Sidewinder X8 + DOTA

Hey guys, I just bought a X8 for gaming, and needs some info on how you guys use the numpad shortcuts on the mouse.

I've changed the settings but i think the program thought it's using the number keys on top of the qwerty instead of the numpad. They are somehow different in DOTA.

I'm not sure I get exactly what your problem is, but you might have/want to look into DotA-specific key mappers. That might solve your problem. But if you can't remap the mouse's numbers to point to something other than the numrow, methinks you're screwed.

if you play dota, you know that the items can be activated using the numpad (1,2,4,5,7,8) but not the number keys between the qwerty and F-keys. Now, i tried to use the intelipoint to change the settings so that when i press one of the thumb buttons on my X8, it will be the numpad 7 (top) and numpad 8(bottom). When i try it in dota, it still wont do anything when i press it. But when i tested it in notepad, it types 7 and 8 when i press it.

And also, i tried to set the left scroll and right scroll to be ctrl + shift + tab and ctrl + tab respectively so that when i m in firefox, i could go between tabs when i press left scroll and right scroll. But when i try to set it up, it only accepts "ctrl +", when i press tab, it selects the next button on that form.

Have you tested it by assigning a unit/hero/group to 7/8 and then double clicking the intellipoint button? If it brings up and focuses on your assigned unit/hero/group then you know it's going to the number row.

If you're using Vista, you might need to turn off UAC. I had a similar problem with my Logitech MX518 and that was how I fixed it.

ummm i dont know what's the connection between UAC and the Intellipoint.
