I have windows XP Pro,and my sidewinder game pad does not work. It is NOT a usb connection...Is there a driver?,or what am I missing?...tyia

Uh...it's been a while since I used my sidwinder (w/ XP Pro). But I think I just went under "game controllers" in the control panel. Then found the "MS sidewinder auto detect" part and it found it for me (was one of those ports connected to my sound card). That prolly doesn't help but...

Considering you have a Microsoft sidewinder, it should automatically be detected by Microsoft Windows XP. Have you tried disconnecting it and turning your computer off, then reconnecting it and rebooting?

If not, go to microsoft's site and see if there are any new drivers for it. If that doesn't work, call up MS and get a replacement.

WinXP has native drivers, but it will not auto detect a gameport connection. It must be manually enable din the control panel controller applet.

installing the sidewinder game controller 4.0 software and then going to control panel\joystick icon and choosing microsoft sidewinder (auto detect) will install the controllers and well as pick it up everytime you start your computer. note: the software say's it's not designed for winxp during setup but just click continue and everything will go on just fine.
