OK.. this is a bit too far. So they expect the OS to come with nothing but a kernel and a command console?

I don't see the big difference between bundling Calculator in Windows 3.x and Media Player in later versions of Windows.

And this is quite different from IE vs. Navigator. The web browsers were somewhat compatible. Streaming media are not. People need to download RealPlayer if they want to play any proprietary Real Media format higher than version 5.0.

My 2¢.

Agreed. Next they'll complain about how bundling MS Paint is a threat to Photoshop, or Minesweeper a threat to Quake III.

I want MS to include all the free stuff they see fit, plus a little more for good measure.

I like what MS includes. If you dont want to use Windows Media Player, then don't use it. Download Quicktime or Realplayer or Winamp.

Geez whats next there gonna get in trouble for bundling Explorer.exe with windows? Give me a break...the only reason they have media player there is to make the computer "mutlimedia ready" or whatever, i think it would be a pain in the rear to install quicktime or something every time you reformat. Anyways you dont need to install media player when you install windows..

ICS - the issue with IE and the whole anti-trust thing was the fact that it came pre-installed on every Windows machine from Compaq, HP, etc...so the millions of morons who bought a Compaq or HP had the default choice of IE. I mean I get your point b/c users with home-built computers like myself (and probably 85% of the people on these forums) have that choice but the HP/Compaq-type users don't - they just get instructions that say "Pop the restore CD and 3.5" floppy into their respective drives and restart the computer to reformat your drive".
