Microsoft service pack 3 for win XP.

Lemon law

Lifer
I happened to be on the major geeks website a few minutes ago. And today, they listed the release of microsoft service pack 3 beta RC1 for windows XP.

At 336 MB download size, its hardly a job for dial up, but from what I can read, the huge bulk of that 336 MB is previously released windows updates plus service packs 1&2.

And being the good security conscious little boy that I am, I always make sure both my and my wife's computer is fully patched with all previously available microsoft updates.

So the question becomes, when service pack 3 finally is released to the general public as a
past beta general release, how much of that 336 MB's or so will consist of new updates?

And what new things will XP then be able to do?

A WAG is about 1/2 are straight patches, and the rest feature changes and fixes that they found while doing Vista and Vista SP1. They always find code that was broken while building the new OS or SP. They will include those fixes in the SP.
