Microsoft removes manual deferrals from Windows Update by IT pros 'to prevent confusion'

Microsoft has made a change, acknowledged publicly this week, in how manual deferral of Windows 10 feature updates will be handled by business users starting with the May 2020/2004 update.

It's still a bit confusing to me, I guess this would keep people more up to date overall?

In any case, I'm glad that there's a workaround.

Given they only added the delay feature a year (?) ago, a better question probably...why did they ever allow anyone to do this?

Hah, I have the opposite problem. My Windows 10 refused to update from 1903 to 2004 because of "generic drivers" in Device Manager stopping the update. Even installing chipset drivers didn't help, so I had do a clean install. Seems like Microsoft still hasn't fixed this issue so the May 2020 2004 update is actually blocked on Windows Update for people with generic driver issues preventing the update. You have to use the Media Creation tool to either force the update or do a clean install of Windows.
