I'm not really a fan of the X-Box, but it doesn't say how many consoles were sold... 243 Customer Service calls could be either a lot or little, but you can't tell without knowing the scope.

It's funny how everything yellowplastic wrote is not anywhere to be found in the article, isn't it?

Not a good start at all for xbox. It'll be interesting to see if this really becomes an issue or if it is user error.

i dislike xbox and it is not a console of my choice....

but, i don't see anything about microsoft refusing to replace defective xboxes, nor the launch was a failure.....

according to the article... it seems like microsoft is doing what any company would do in a similar situitation.

so what "nightmare" are you talking about?

lets say they sold 3/4 of what they shipped(125000, this is a VERY conservative estimate).

243/(125,000*.75) = .002592*100=.2592%.

I'd say that not a bad quality number.

I agree, I meant you can't tell how bad it is. :p

After looking at some of the numbers, it isn't bad at all. Seems like a pretty successful launch. We'll see how it turns out, though. The N64 had a successful Japan launch, also, and that got trashed after a few months.

CKDragon : It was bad use of your post on my part. I quoted your post because you mentioned the figure - not because I was trying to imply that you thought that 243 calls was a public relations nightmare.

My apologies :)

yellowplastic : Edit the thread title - it draws unwarrented attention to a stupid and nonfactual post.

Since this thread and it's title are obviously gay, how about we salvage what we can from it? Has anyone tried those smaller Japanese controllers? Are they any better/comfortable?

The contorlers over there I think, are mutch better modeled to the hand. I dislike the huge ones over here. That is one reason I did not puck up an X-box. Tried it at best buy, and hated the controller. I will just wait for an emulator :D
