we all know what happens to jurors that vote against MS... <maniacal>lol</maniacal>

I'd like to see that guy get a dime after all the appeals and such that he is gonna be put through.

If it does go through:

But other software products, including competing browsers like Opera and the new Safari browser from Apple Computer Inc., could also be in violation of the patent. Safari, by the way, is based on free browsing software created by the open-source programming community, and sure enough, these open-source products may also fall afoul of the Eolas patent.

Microsoft will be the only company around that can afford to pay out sums like that. So if it is real and valid and holds up to appeals then all you open source hippies are fubar'd so in the end who has the last laugh 😀

<maniacal>lol</maniacal>

only if he decides to pursue. he would be under no obligation to do so.

<----- pwn3d 😱

(that's what I get for only skimming over the article.)

at least you are a good sport about it. 🙂

Hey, if i'm wrong, i'm man enough to admit it.

The only time i'll defend myself even though i'm in the wrong is when it comes to VW related topics. 😉

I'd like to look at the code. If it is a handling task of place an object in a displayable window, then I believe people like WebSphere will already have an optional solution to it (Portal). It is clunky right now - but better rush it to the patent office!

if the decided to sue the maker of open source browsers, who would they sue?

they can't take a percentage of thier profits as they did with microsoft as there are none

After reading the article, I have to side with Microsoft on this one. The guy pattented something that was pre-existing. If this stands up, I'm going to patent the act of inserting a CD into a CD-ROM drive and make billions!

ZV
Then what will I use for a cupholder?

You're using a cupholder? I didn't license you to use a cupholder!
