Microsoft pushing IE6 sp1???

my servers at work are nt40 sp6a running ie 5.5 sp2.

today, microsoft's Windows Update program came up w/a new critical patch. It was IE 6 sp1.

ie6 sp1 is a critical patch???? why are they pushing it? what's wrong w/ie5.5?

IE 6.0 has been out for quite a while now. It is about time Microsoft release IE 6.0 SP1. If you look at the history of IE SP, it is about right.

If you're still using IE 5.5 and would like to install the critical patch without upgrading to IE 6.0 SP1, you can do so by installing the patch:

Yeah, it seems MS is forcing adoption of IE 6, but that's nothing new from them right?
