I have to reinstall Office 2000 Standard on a regular basis. When I install it, it asks for the Product Key ID#. When it is installed it asks me to register otherwise it doesn't run more than x times. I register and get a registration key and a confirmation #, but where the hell am I supposed to put those when I want to reinstall Office again????
This is ticking me off very badly. Maybe I'm just missing something simple, but I've had enough,

Assuming you aren't reformatting your machine between reinstalls:
"Q18. What if I have to reinstall the software, will I have to register again?

A. No. You may reinstall Office on the same machine as many times as you like and you won't need to register each installation. However, if you format your hard disk prior to reinstalling Office, you will need to register again
" (http://www.microsoft.com/Education/product/orwqa.asp#18)

If you're doing multiple installs at a large organization (company, school, etc.), it's probably worth your while to look into volume licensing: http://www.microsoft.com/Education/product/orwqa.asp#23.

Found that by searching Knowledge Base for "confirmation code" -- the first link off the first answer provided the necessary information.

If you're reformatting your personal machine *that* much, then look into creating a ghost image so you don't need to keep spending the time installing O2K.

thanks! Cool. I still don't know how to appy the Registration Verification Code or the other one Office gives after registration... Are they good for nothing?
Doesn't seem to make sense to me but if that's how it is, oh well. The thing is that I am NetAdmin at a small network of 10-12 computers with office on them. A lot of things happen over the weeks so reinstallations are frequently necessary but since I'm not the only one working there I don't have track of which office # goes with which machine. I was hoping the registration verification code was good for avoiding registration over and over again.
