Just fyi it only takes floppy disks as media. But a real good deal for those who need one.

Give me a break. Who would even consider this now? Only reads floppy disks. Ha ha ha ha ha. That's so four years ago.

Even $9.77 with no shipping would suck for this.

Not a bad idea to give to Grandma with no computer and you can shrink up your pics and put them on floppy for her.

I haven't even owned a computer with a floppy drive installed for at least 5 years so Grandma's out of luck.

It would be great if it took CF, MMC, etc. instead of just floppies. As it is, it's basically worthless today.

This is the fifth time I have seen you troll in a thread this week. I have yet to see you type a positive statement. I'm sorry you are an unhappy person with an unhappy life, but please don't bring it in here! I am not trying to be a mod, just trying to figure out why VaG is so recalcitrant to other's opinions.

But I digress...This is a great holiday present for Grandma, even if it does take a floppy disk.

I wonder if you could use one of those compact flash/smartmedia to floppy disk adaptors on this?

I doubt it. You usually need to have a driver loaded to use those things.

Don't knock it. Atleast it takes the 3.5 inch floppies instead of the 5.25 inch floppies.

Hey wait a minute. Didn't they make adapters for smart media and I think memory sticks so they could be read off a floppy drive. Wonder if it would support that. If so you could read 128mb at a time.

You might want to read further up. Those adpaters need drivers.

I bought one on half.com earlier this year when Tiger Direct was blowing them out for $10, shipping included.

And I agree totally... this is really simple technology to send to Grandma. You can fit 20 images on a floppy and they surprisingly look good (you can fit more than 20 on one floppy, but image quality suffers). Simple as turning the unit on, popping the floppy in, switching the Video Input mode on the TV and voila... instant photo show. Even comes with a remote control so Grandma can flip thru the pictures herself.

I'd rather send a cheap floppy thru the mail, then risk a more expensive memory card. I can buy 50 floppies for about $5 bucks on any of the recent office store rebate deals.

Doubt you can find something this cheap that can display images on a TV using a memory card!

well since with shipping this unit is bordering on $25 why not:
1) Buy grandma a cheap $30-$35 DVD player that supports photo slideshows
2) Burn CD-R's and mail to grandma =)

That way grandma can watch DVDs too and enjoy those action movies like the Die Hard Trilogy that grandma loves so much. =)
And one day maybe you can send her DVD home movies you made with your DVD burner. Happiness for all.

Don't hold your breath.
I'm sorry you are an unhappy person with an unhappy life,
I'm glad to see you care so much but I'm just a smart*ss not unhappy.
but please don't bring it in here!
I guess I haven't gotten to the part where you say: "you're not trying to be a mod."
I am not trying to be a mod, just trying to figure out why VaG is so recalcitrant to other's opinions.
Sorry, but I must defy and resist guidance when someone is selling seriously outdated technology for $25 and grandma is dead.
But I digress...This is a great holiday present for Grandma, even if it does take a floppy disk.
No it's not.

Not a bad deal for some folks, even if some other folks are uber technical and have every widget and gadget available. Sorry to hear about your grandma.
Msoft's product page.
Tigger Direct Lexar Compact Flash TV Photo Viewer ?69.99
I still think the floppy version is best for non tech oriented (and never gonna/wants to learn) folks, so yes, I for one think this deal is veddy veddy good. The rest of you cen keep your opinions to ya own selfs.
And lastly Amazon Sandisk TV Photo Viewer $39.99, free shipping
I still think it's easier and cheaper to send floppies though. CF can be too expensive and considering the size, too likely to get lost.

I bought one of these last year from TD for $10 incl shipping as mentioned above. It works pretty well and a 1.44 floppy holds about 30 640x480 pictures if you scale down the pictures first. The viewer will scale down larger pictures, but it just wastes space and load time to store larger than 640x480 pictures on the diskettes. Paint Shop Pro makes it easy to batch process a resize operation on multiple files.

Retail $160 LOL

These were at Sams club for almost a year for around $18. Not sure if they still have them. No shipping there.

I had one of these from when TigerDirect was giving them away free with any purchase. It works like it says, but I ended up getting rid of it once I got a DVD player that could display JPGs from CDs.

Not a bad deal. Not the greatest, but no too bad.

VaG - After reviewing many of your posts, I've concluded 3point14 is right. You're nothing but a TROLL

I love it when people blindly post idiotic "retail prices" in order to pump up their post. Yeah, retail, maybe five years ago...

Hey, I have news for you guys: I've got some $4000 retail 366 based PCs I'm selling for $100 plus shipping. Get in line! What a deal! And grandma can use them, too!

Sony FD Mavica's were designed for the Japanese market where the 2.88MB floppy is an accepted standard. 2.88MB floppies are just useful enough to still be commonplace in Japanese products (High-end Yamaha MIDI keyboards still have a floppy drive instead of a CF/SM/MMC/SD/MS card or stick slot.). Get a bunch of these for a second-hand FD Mavica and this MS device and you're all set for enjoying the floppy once again (Until you corrupt another one). I'm SURE it supports them...

BTW, says $11.99 when I click it now...
