Motley Fool article cites NASA investigation report:
NASA's Columbia Accident Investigation Board, in its report on why the space shuttle crashed, blamed not only foam insulation but also PowerPoint! It said, "NASA, the board argued, had become too reliant on presenting complex information via PowerPoint, instead of by means of traditional ink-and-paper technical reports."

basically it lambasts PowerPoint for making everything be focused on presenting information in condensed bullets

imagine rocket surgeons [scientists] giving a power point presentation instead of turning in a technical paper

Blame the people using the tool, not the tool.

P.S. I blame guns for killing our nation's youths.

There is no reason PP couldn't be used to create a report or presentation that is as technical as you require it to be. If the presentation authors have limited PP skills/experience, or they prefer the type of presentation being criticized, that isn't a limitation of PP.

If anything, using PowerPoint gives them less of an excuse.

It takes a hell of a lot less time to email a PPT presentation than it does to print up a report on a printer and make memo copies for everyone. What lazy bastards for not accepting the blame.
