Microsoft Outlook task bar notification

I have Windows 7 64 bit, Microsoft Outlook 2007. I have Outlook set to show a notification envelope in the task bar when I receive mail, and Outlook also set to check every 20 minutes for mail when I am off-line. Neither of those things are happening. Any ideas?

check the taskbar settings, make sure the notification icon is not being hidden.
although if the new mail check isn't happening that wouldn't matter.

If you are offline it cant check...

http://www.eprompter.com/ is what you should be looking for..it is damn small program and free...not sure it will run on 64 bit.
