VS being free and .net being ported are totally meh compared to supporting all three major destop platforms ALONG WITH all three mobile ones.
If one can really develop for all six of them in one tool, using the same language and the same UI design, that effectively obsoletes every other tool out there (for those needing cross-platform).
However, recent screen shots and explanations (that I have seen) indicate that at least UI design is platform specific still.
