Microsoft.net Framework Update

This morning, there are 3 new updates for Microsoft.net Framework for Windows 7 ?

What is this update ?

I don't understand.

Is it important to install ?

Jeezus... Microsoft's Windows Update is asinine.

I've been setting up a Window 2008 Server R2 SP1 machine over the last two days. Today I checked Window Update and there was one update available for .NET 4.0. Ok, so I downloaded and installed it. Mercifully, no reboot was required. Afterward, I immediately checked for updates again and there are four critical and four optional updates for .NET 4.0 available. It's never-ending.

you should install Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 straight away when you install Windows rather than getting it from Windows updates as Windows update will not download the 4.5 update.

When you have 4.5 there is no need for 4.0 as it simply replaces it

Windows Server 2008 R2 didn't install 4.0, either. I had an application installer that required it.
