I know there are better programs, but this is what I am using. Does anybody know how to cut to a picture without interupting the audio from the clip. for instance somebody is talking in the clip, and I want to show a picture of what the person is refering to, but I don't want to interupt the explanation. Does anybody have any idea how to do this in Microsoft movie editor?

I can think of a complex way to do it, but there must be something easier.

Basically, you rip the audio track from the video.

Then edit the video track to suit your needs.

Then add the audio track back to the video.

All of this can be done with MS Movie Editor.

First thing I tried, but no luck. No reference to seperating audio from video. (at least that I could find)

Yea, I know what needs to be done, but how to do it is the question.

From MS MovieMaker2(I'm assuming that's what you have), import the video you want to use. It should show a pic of the 1st frame--click on it to highlight. Click the play button on the preview player on the right side of your window. You should see a "take picture" button on the left side of the window (opposite from the "play" button). When you get to the frame(s) you want a pic of, click the button.

That works for me.

I am asking how to overlay an already acquireid picture into the video without interupting the audio of the clip.

Doesn't sound like this program is advanced enough in order to do this.

Movie Maker 2 is good for what it does but it does not do overlays.

Unfortunately Movie Maker 2 is good at showing you things that you would like to have in movie making software.

Ulead Video Studios does do overlays but they did not do somethings as simply as Movie Maker.

Movie Maker is excellent for its' simplicity and helping you create something quickly BUT no options.

Its too bad MS did not go a little farther.
