Microsoft Launches Vista TFT Monitor

TFT is a technical variant of LCD - probably the current standard. I guess we are looking at a 22" LCD made for Microsoft by Samsung. Could be a good one. TFT= Thin Film Transistor technology.

Here are all the LCD types:

LCD

TFT is also sometimes called "active LCD." I think this thread belongs in hardware or display hardware. It has nothing to do with OS.

That article is bordering on useless due to the lack of any technical details whatsoever. For the love of all that is holy, they should at least tell us what the resolution is so we can know the DPI. Yes, widescreen monitors are the cool thing to have these days, but there are a ton of them around already. Unless Microsoft makes this one different by using a higher than standard DPI and higher color depth, this won't even be worth a yawn.

so they're branding a samsung lcd with their name? what's special about that? and 22" is an interesting size. most lcd's are either 20.1", 23",24". anyway, i bet it wil cost a lot and perform badly. just like the OS. i'd be very happy to be surprised.
