Microsoft has announced that their kid-friendly Kodu Game Creation Tool is now available for the Windows PCs. Previously released for the Xbox 360's Indie Games, Kodu is designed as a programming language that is accessible to children but fun for everyone.

The primary push to get Kodu on to PCs is to make the Game Lab more attractive to schools. Schools won't be required to purchase special equipment or controllers just the standard mouse and keyboard.

The Kodu programming language features a visual user-interface that is broken down into pages, then rules, and then conditions and actions. This allows for rapid design and experimentation of games. The PC version of Kodu also features the ability to export games to share with others via email or servers, programming language improvements, and easy installation for lab environments.

Other features of Kodu include:
* High-level language incorporates real-world primitives: collision, color, vision
* Runs on Xbox 360 and PC
* Interactive terrain editor
* Bridge and path builder
* Terrain editor - create worlds of arbitrary shape and size
* 20 different characters with different abilities
