Microsoft Issues Recall For Small Business Server 2003 R2

Ooops...

I wonder what components it was that they neglected to update the code on.

I guess at least they caught it before it hit store shelves...

I am about to migrate from SBS 2000 to SBS 2003 this week. I haven't recieved my new R2 discs from Action Pack Subscription and I was just about to make a thread about when I should expect them. I guess I don't have to worry about that, and will just use SP1.

I wish they had told me about this before I put R2 on my home server about a month ago. I haven't seen any issues though.

I'm sure they wish they new about it a month ago.

I'm staring at the SBS R2 Release-to-Manufacturing disks that MS sent me last month. I guess it's good I didn't install them yet.

I wonder if/how Microsoft is going to "patch" disk sets like these that DID get released?
Edit: Got an email from Microsoft. They have a plan. 🙂

This, unfortunately, makes it 2/2 for SBS 2003. The orginal 2003 release was plagued by bad code that caused the install to go awry if you installed it after November 24, 2003. I still encounter those original-release packages (with "bad" CD#3) in the marketplace.
