I'm well aware of that. My point is the MS adapter is outrageously expensive, as are most of their accessories.

That's a good point, I never thought about that. Still, it would be nice to have G included (at no extra cost) with the ability to add an N adapter later, if desired. If the Wii and DS can include wifi at no extra cost, then what's the problem?

So wtf is this huge "2nd" announcement?

I really hope that the first wasn't the "Xbox360 Elite" and the 2nd was "120Gb HDD for $180".

This doesn't bother me that much as I did before. Is priced $80 more than the premium and there isn't any graphical difference between the two. And I have no need for HDMI has my computer monitor doesn't have that input. I might want to just get the 120GB hard drive separate.

I'm LMAOing at the xbox fanboys who are crying right now. When the PS3 and Wii take the top 1 and 2 positions we'll see the moron xbox fanboys become moron PS3/Wii fanboys. This is why being a fanboy is stupid.

No, none of the 360s have built in wifi. It costs $99 for a wireless adapter. It's outrageous.

You don't have to purchase the MS adapter. You can get cheaper ones.

The only real benefit to the MS adapter is that it does 802.11a.

That doesn't change the fact that the MS adapter is $99, or the fact that you have to buy one in the first place.

I think it was smart not to include WiFi myself. Especially with N just around the corner. N comes out and everyone starts to upgrade and your 360 is stuck on G (which isn't all that great for media streaming)

Since N is backwards compatible with G, G is better than no wireless at all. And if a "lowly" Nintendo DS can put WiFi onboard for $30 more than the 360's wireless adapter, that's pretty flippin pathetic.

And don't tell me that everyone is going to have Wireless-N devices exclusively in their house. Just like with the switch from 802.11b to 802.11g, there will be a while before all of your household devices are fully shifted over to 802.11n (no one is going to upgrade their wireless printer "just" b/c 802.11n is coming out).

But making comments like this are so cool, right?

Looks like you just don't know the different between a fanboy and someone who's educated about the subject at hand and has reasons to have good/bad opinions about the subject.

Arghhhh. I was hoping for a HD-DVD player and I would be a 360 owner. No it appears I'll get a PS3 as soon as it drops to $499.

The DS is 802.11b though. 802.11b is inexpensive.

They may not want to upgrade their wireless printer but they'll probably want to upgrade their 360.

The 360 needs at least G because of media streaming and even then it isn't that great. I switched over to A because I was getting too much interference in my house.

I won't argue that the new price for the two added features sucks. I just don't buy into the harping of the 360 not having WiFi.

Good luck finding the 20GB versions though. I see stacks of 60GBs all over the place. Nary a 20.

I agree 100%. How about they include 802.11G and when 802.11N comes out, THEN you can buy a router and use it as a bridge so you won't be stuck on G. 802.11g is out NOW and can be had cheap. It is the most pathetic excuse to constantly not include things in products because something better is "just around the corner". There are ALWAYS better things coming out..

They can get away with not including HD-DVD because of the format wars going on, but there is no excuse for not having wifi, especially in an "elite" model for $80 more.

And it'll be a good long time before Sony drops the price on the PS3, especially with Microsoft vindicating them by pricing their stuff so high.

Agreed. It's a no brainer. To tell you the truth, I'd rather have WiFi than an HDMI cable on the Elite. I can pick up an HDMI cable from Monoprice for $5-6.

The second announcement is scheduled for tonight at midnight EST. Didn't you guys read the title of the thread at all?

I can imagine tonight's announcement will be something akin to the Halo 3 beta. It's getting to be that time.

lol i won't lie, i didn't read the WHOLE topic :p

well I'm assuming it'll be something about the official release of Halo 3, it's beta, or both.

What would be fvcking hilarious though is if they announced that the Elite is reallly $400 and the premium is cutting to $300 :D

that would be very funny, too bad it's not april 1st yet. that would be the ultimate april fools joke. but not a chance that will happen :)

It's definitely halo 3, didn't they say the beta would start in april?

I just do not understand why they would mention Halo 3... Now if they mentioned IPTV tonight at midnight EST that is something that I can see happening because X-Box 360 elite with a 120 gig hard drive goes great with IPTV...

Sony 60gig PS3 -$599

MS XB360 Elite $479 + HD DVD + $200 = $679

$79 more for 60 gigs worth of hdd space, or am I missing something?

Even still though, I would prolly buy a 360 due to the huge library of games out, ONLY PROVIDED, they fixed the red rings of death out of nowhere, lock ups, and heat issues with the new console. Again will have to wait for the other people who can afford it to test it, and wait for the reviews to come back, and see how many of these die, before I see which way I will really be going in the end, when I can afford one of these high dollar consoles that is. By that time Sony may have a good set of games out for it and it will come down to who has the better built console so I will have years of service out of it for what I paid.

Right now for me, Sony is way too much money, and no real games that pop out that makes me just have to have it, Xbox has a ton of games I just have to have, but at $400 I want to play them for more then 6 months to a year when the console dies, or having random locking up issues, and the Wii I just cant find one or I would own it already.

Interesting price on the stand-alone HD. For $80 more than the price of a premium you get HDMI and the larger HD.

So much for appreciating the early adopters, eh?

That's the thing for me. Since I game on my PC, Xbox does not have many games that I want to play. Gears? Coming to PC. Alan Wake? PC. Bioshock? PC. Even a year ago, Oblivion was available on PC (better on PC due to mods). Halo 1 and 2 was boring for me... I hope they make some games that is exclusive to Xbox to give me reasons to own one.

Ok so I was thinking about this HD upgrade cable...

If it copies data, why couldn't we buy one of many cheap 20 GB HDs that will be for sale and transfer some data to a "backup" HD and copy it back when we want it again...

maybe I just don't understand how this cable will work.
