Microsoft Internet Keyboard Pro / Counterstrike problems

Hi all,

I recently put together a new computer. Everything is working great, very stable, except for some wierd control problems in Counter-strike.

If I push and hold several keys at once (i.e. walking/crouching/strafing/moving forward) a control will get "stuck". I will continue moving forward or left even when I release the buttons.

Also, sometimes pushing the reload button doesn't work but every time I fire, I reload.

I use the keypad for my controls (kp_7 and kp_9 are strafe, kp_8 and kp_2 are forward/back, kp_4 and kp_6 are turn left/right, kp_1 and kp_3 are pistol/main gun, kp_ins is reload, kp_del is duck, kp_enter is jump, kp_+ is walk, kp_- is knife, kp_* is grenade, kp_/ is use). System specs are below.

Ending the speedkey application doesn't seem to help.

Microsoft Internet Keyboard Pro (USB/PS2 Latest driver)
Microsoft Intellimouse with Intellieye (USB Latest driver)
ASUS CUSL2
Pentium III 1Ghz
256 MB CAS2 RAM
Radeon 64 DDR VIVO
Soundblaster Live Platinum 5.1
IBM 75GXP 30GB
105-S 16X DVD-ROM
3COM 905-C Network Card
Cable Modem (AT&T formerly Mediaone)

Please help,

Mark.

I don't know guy, I have an IKP also and I don't have those problems, everything works fine with mine. Maybe it's because you have an intel chip :)

p.s. just kidding.

Hello,

Do you use the keypad or the usual wasd key config? I was wondering if the issue could be keypad related. Did you load the speedkey software? Do you use the multimedia keys?

Thanks,

Mark.

You can use the multimedia keys without running the speedkey memory resident software? Any idea what the scroll lock key does? (I'm assuming it is supposed to make the arrows on the number pad function.) Wondering if that has anything to do with it. Guess I should try wasd to see if it does the same thing. BTW I have my keyboard controlling winamp which is pretty cool but can't make it control my DVD software. Any luck getting it to control your DVD software?

Thanks,

Mark.

By speedkey do you mean the IKP sofware? I installed the IKP software and 1.1 update. and I don't have a DVD.

In order for the keyboard's hotkeys to work there is memory resident software. If you hit CTRL-ALT-DEL I believe it is called speedkey in the Task Manager. I also installed version 1.1 of the Microsoft keyboard driver. Think the scroll lock would have anything to do with my problem? Anyone else use the number pad for Counterstrike?

Thanks,

Mark.

I use:

Arrow Up = Forward
Arrow down = Backward
Arrow left = Walk left
Arrow right = Walk right

Ins/0 = Crouch
Ctrl = Jump
Right Shift = Drop weapon

Etc?

All keys work fine, I remember a while back I had some problems trying to reload. So I exited the game back out to desktop, went back in and everything was fine after that. Sometimes I?ll just wait till the round is over, everything is fine the next round.

I haven't experienced this problem with Unreal Tournament (same key setup) so it seems to be software related and not hardware related. It is very annoying to loose in Counterstrike because your keyboard is glichy.

Update: I experienced this problem with Unreal Tournament last night. Also, my mouse (Microsoft Intellimouse with Intellieye) will occasionally stop responding for a couple seconds. Could this be a USB issue? I believe the USB connector on my keyboard only powers the hub and doesn't affect the keys.

Yes. The mouse is USB only, the keyboard is USB and PS2. I believe all the functions except for the USB hub in the keyboard work even if the USB connector is unplugged. I have a CUSL2 motherboard, I'm only using the two USB headers on the motherboard.

Well, I'm using PS/2 for both mouse and keyboard. Don't know if that matters?
