microsoft internet keyboard and "sleep"

Easy

When I hit the "sleep" button the pc powers down as it should and the monitor goes into standby no problem. But when try to "wake" them both up I hit the spacebar or mouse the pc wakes up but the monitor stays in standby. Then if I wait about 2-3 more minutes on comes the monitor. Anyone know why the monitor is not kicking in. I have a 800eb on a cusls bios 1003 final with a matrox 32 meg g400 single head. I have tried it on 2 different monitors and still no. Odd since it seems to work on my old P2b with a 400p2 and an older matrox vid card. Thanks for any input

I think that is normal. It may be that the monitor is slowly powered up, or just the amount of time it takes to notice the signal.

I'm not sure what options your BIOS offers, or even if BIOS retains some control over the OS concerning power management. In my BH6-SS BIOS there are a few PM options (one of them is "PM Control by OS" BTW). There are a few others like DPMS(sp?), V/H Sync, etc. that might have some effect on the monitor. Give it a shot if you haven't already.

In a related question: Anyone know how to COMPLETELY DISABLE power management so that when I press the sleep button on the Keyboard Pro that it starts the screensaver instead of suspend? It says that its possible if all PM is disabled; though I have already disabled everything in BIOS and Power Options Properties.
