Yesterday, completly out of the blue, I noticed that Internet Explorer 6 SP1 was very slow to startup, takeing over 1 minute to start. I have tried defragmenting the HDD, repairing the installation and re-installing Internet Explorer.
The problem also happens when I try open Office XP apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Publisher. I tried re-installing Office XP too. All other programs are fine. What I find really perplexing is that it would happen all of a sudden. Anyone experienced this problem before? I'm think that the only way out will be a clean install, but I'd like to avoid it if possible.
System Specs: AMD AthlonXP 1600+ @1800+, Shuttle AK31 3.1, 512MB PC2100, GF4 Ti 4200, Windows 98SE.
Cheers
