Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer & Eudora

I have a microsoft Intellimouse Explorer and this always allowed me to go foward and back between email messages using the forward and back buttons that are usually used for Internet Explorer.

Now I have lost that functionality and it is really driving me crazy. I have tried to get help with Eudora but no one there could help.
