If you play any first person shooter games, I wouldn't recommend this mouse. The resolution jumps between 120 hz and 60 for some reason (on many IE explorer 4.0's I've tested), and when you move the view around using the mouse it gives the impression of having a lower frame rate or a lower refresh rate, but it is actually the mouse's jerky sensitivity. Best mouse for comfort, awsome for web browsing or general windows usage, but crap for games.

I had one for about 6 months, but didn't really notice that. Mabye it was there but my computer is too bad to realize mouse lag and frame lag. Anyway, comfy mouse, bad for gaming it seems.

Not only the mouse movement is jerky, I find it very uncomfortable especially during game plays. I returned it after a week. YMMV.

I stick to the old fashioned Intellimouse 2 (wired, 5 buttons). In fact I have a total of five of them used at work/home/laptop. Light weight, conformtable and makes it easy browsing, coding through different IDEs, and GAMING ! YEAH !

But if this mouse works for you, this is no doubt a HOT DEAL.

Another thing about the Intellimouse 4.0 is that the middle wheel button is much more stiffer than the previous model, so it takes a little more effort to click the middle button. The side scrolls are nice though, a bit buggy at times.

The smooth middle wheel also effects gaming in how its smooth. :)

I like it for normal browsing, but when a click means a weapon change, it messes me up a bit. This is just from experience from one computer having their 3.0 intellimouse and another one having hte 4.0 wireless.

Yeah, the middle mouse scroll has no clicks, and it scrolls extremely fast no matter what setting you use. So if you're in a FPS game and you want to scroll to different weapons - it's almost impossible unless you do a VERY slight nudge on the scroll. Also, the middle mouse button has a lag to it, so if you use it to jump or do anything that requires good timing, it's useless. Basically, the best IE is still 2.0 or 3.0 depending how large of hands you got. Can't wait for an upgrade to this mouse that has the same shape but fixes all the annoying design problems, but meanwhile I'd switch to the Logitech MX510 or the upcomming MX518

If only the logitech mx's had the intellimouse application-specific button programming. That would be sweet.

can't stand the lack of tactile mouse feel on the scroll wheel either but it's still a nice mouse for gaming, and the software is awesome

ARGH!

Tell me this is not true.

I use the middle mouse button very intensively and I have intellimice (and trackballs) everywhere for that reason. Can't use the stiff Logitech stuff.

If MS drops making the light-press mices I can as well start looking for a job in a fish factory.

I have the 3.0 and I love it. I tried out a 4.0 on display and it was very uncomfortable in my hand.

Another place for $18
http://www.softwareandstuff.com/ACC10730.html

I paid $40 for a corded version a month ago because I couldn't find it cheaper. Atleast I just used a GC :(

The middle wheel and button is still from the factory, it loosens up after a few days of use and becomes quite nice. I migrated from the original wheel intellimouse.
