Microsoft has streamlined the upgrade and setup process for Windows 8.

It would be nice if they would finally make the installer as simple as Linux has been for years now. But that article is pretty light on facts, almost to the point of having none.

Been reading on this for some time now. 11 Clicks to upgrade seems amazingly simple. Of course like everything Ill believe it when I see it.

How bothered are we by NEXT screens, or time and day and zone settings and serial etc etc....

For me its the fact they even have to ask during an upgrade Should just be 1 or 2screens in my mind. New serial # and thats about it. Have an advanced option of course but why ask anything else to the average person?

For upgrades, I didn't think there was much more than that already.

It's the fact that you can't set it and walk away. It will always ask for something during the install requiring you to be there.. That's the part that's annoying. Ms has improved this over time though. I remember windows 98 was brutal for that. Not only did that install take like 2 hours, but it would stop and ask a question like 5 times throughout that installation. Thankfully that's a thing of the past. Even XP was not too bad and Vista/7 is pretty good.

Now there's unattended installs and all that, but I'm talking strictly about stock here.
