This june, right? windows 98 and Windows me? Correct? They said they won't provide anymore updates, does that mean if you just installed windows 98 and you want to install some of the ALREADY RELEASED updates, windows update.com won't work on these machines?

no it means there won't be any more NEW updates. So if there's a new virus or malware that targets win98 you're SOL

Finally a reason to get my parents to get a new computer. They're running a Celeron 600MHz with CD-ROM, 192MB RAM (came with 64MB), integrated video, and Windows ME (came with 98 SE).

Security ironically....... only computers at my old high school that worked during the blaster outbreak for a month were the machines that were not running an OS based on NT.

That's a really ridiculously stupid reason to install win98 -- because it happens to be too old to be affected by one particular virus.

Money. I still have 94 of them to deal with in the middle school I work at. Thank God we are no longer required to support them after school lets out in June. I am counting the days.
