Sounds like a nice cheap graphics card upgrade to me! Microsoft developers stated the upcoming DirectX 12 API could deliver an up-to 20 percent higher frame rate in games and a decrease in CPU utilization. As a PC gamers we think you guys will upgrade Microsoft's Windows 10 operating system real fast

During an Intel press conference at GDC Wednesday night, Bryan Langley, a principal program manager for graphics with Microsoft, put it into context.

"This is like getting free hardware," Langley said. "So if you're a gamer, and you upgrade to Windows 10, and you have that Iris Pro, it's like getting that extra kick. It may make your game go from not quite playable, to playable, from mediocre to awesome, from awesome to just out of this world."

Question: I cannot find definitely whether Kepler supports 12 in hardware and if it does not, will the performance improvement be curtailed by software emulation?

the extra 20% performance sounds like a geat thing. i want to know whether is that is just with amd or nvidia or both?

according to a statement released by Microsoft today. "While we are not yet ready to detail everything related to DirectX12, we can share that we are working closely with all of our hardware partners to help ensure that most modern PC gaming hardware will work well with DirectX12, including; NVIDIA's Maxwell, Kepler and Fermi-based GPUs, Intel's 4th generation (and newer) Core processors and AMD's Graphics Core Next (GCN) based GPUs. We'll have more to share about DirectX12 at GDC in March."

Does anyone know if DX12 will be released for 8.1 or is it a 10 only feature? I did a little searching but the results were less than satisfying and from sites I've never heard of like Rock, Paper, Shotgun.

8.1 can be Upgraded to 10, so either way it will work.

Ya I know but I am hoping they will release it for 8.1. I'm going to catch some shit for saying this but I don't really care for 10. I like 8.1 better. For me it just flows better I find it easier to use.
I guess I'll just have to wait and see how it shakes out regarding DX12 on 8.1.
