Go to www.windowsupdate.com and look at today's new Windows XP Update. The fix is described here:

A critical update is available to remove unacceptable symbols from the Bookshelf Symbol 7 font that is included with Microsoft Office 2003. The Bookshelf Symbol 7 font is contained in the Bssym7.ttf file.

So I looked at the font, and the only remotely 'unacceptable' thing that I can find is a swastika.

Maybe someone who speaks Chinese can translate the other characters (assuming they are chinese, i don't know).

You probably can blame the germans for that, it's illegal to display the swastika in german.

makes sense. the swastika is illegal to display in germany and norway. might be in other euro countries too.

there was a guy who got arrested for making a replica model plane of a fighter with a swastika on it.

Which is puzzling, in that there are religous groups who currently use the Swastika. Are they limited in their use of the Swastika as well? freedom of religon eh.

the buddhist "swastika" you are talking about isnt the same. its flipped backwards. of course, when i first saw it all over china i thought otherwise. then i noticed it wasn't the same, just similar.

Well how about the native americans one...or the Falun Gong ones (I am not sure this is not reversed)

Old news. And the squeeky wheel gets the grease. Many Jewish people objected, and MS responded to their cries.

Something I've always wondered . . . so is the movie shindle's list and the like banned in germany? War Doccumentaries? What happens when they show Indiana Jones & The Holy Grail, or is that banned too?
