Game Over

They claim it's because the games weren't up to par, but I'm thinking it might be because xbox 2 is coming out in 2005. At least it sounds like when they do release them they will be really good.

Heard this rumor a while back, and I am not surprised. Not very many people bought the Football/Basketball games anyway. Not when you have Madden/ESPN out. I have over 25 xbox games, and not a single one of them are apart of MS Sports lineup. Though, many are apart of MS Game studios (rallisport, pgr2, etc).

Amped on the other hand (as well as top spin) were really good though.

I think it's because of some contract impasse... heard about this before.

I enjoyed NFL Fever 2002...but maybe that's because I got it free with my xbox.

Sports games are a nice change because they are non-repetitive.

Yep, if you like the sport enough, there is a TON of replay value (espically online).

Also most of XSN games were "B" games anyway. Kinda hard to justify a purchase when ESPN has the same features(online), but plays much better.

Stick it to the man and buy a GameCube. Not only does XBox have crappy games, but they are taking away crappy games from you little XBoxers... hehe

Yeah, because everyone knows GCN has A TON of sports games, and its controller is perfectly suited for such games.

Controller...not suited to sports....lol

Does the XBOX controller have a big button shaped like a football on it to make it easier for you? :p

I bought my Xbox specifically to play sports games, because sports games on the PC just aren't "right." Bastards.

No, my Xbox doesn't have a big button, all my controllers fear the mighty A Button.

i think you should edit your post, because at first i thought that there weren't going to be ANY sports titles. a few posts down i realize that it's only the sports lineup that microsoft studios makes.

i'm in the minority, but i actually like the nfl fever series. (amped 2 is awesome as well.) i had nfl fever 2003 and loved it, then went to ESPN footbal 2k4 because it received such great reviews. however, i played it only a few hours and couldn't really get into it. a little later i picked up nfl fever 2004.

My modded xbox > gamecube by a mile :)

I have a gamecube too, and that controller is the worst thing ever invented.

Idiots usually think choosing 1 console over another is a right decision. A smart gamer knows the right decision is to buy all 3 consoles and enjoys the strengths of each one. At today's falling console prices, it's hard to find a reason not to.

As for the sports lineup on the Xbox, it mostly sucked so I'm not suprised. They need to release only the proven games like Top Spin, High Heat, and Links. Forget mediocre games like Fever, Inside Drive, and Amped.

While the Gamecube does what it does very well... To say it does justice to sports games is simply laughable.

Yep, it does a good job with party games and children's jumpy games and little puzzle games.

Btw... Amped 2, Links 2004, and Rallisport Challenge are the best games in their respective genre, imho.

Don't forget about their latest killer app... Pokemon! ;)

Well, not that I can relate, but some people actually like that crap. *shrugs*

Some people being children, the target audience of the gamecube. Hence the fisherprice appearance and made-for-small-hands controllers ;)
