I saw somewhere on TomsHardware, correct me if I had the wrong reference, that Microsoft bought Linux for almost nothing, open source, what do you expect? I just want to ask you guys that is this the end of open source? End of Linux? NO MORE "free" OS for workstations, I am currently running Red Hat 7 on my 950 MHz Duron as a workstation, just want to know what is the future of Linux, any input will be apreciate.

LexPliant,

Do you realize that you can edit your own posts? Why not go back and edit them to fix the URLs instead of posting even more incorrect ones?..

Thank you for your cooperation

Let me say this once only.

YOU'RE A DUMBA$$

Just take a look at the link you provided. On the right hand side, it says quite clearly:

Does this ring any bells in your head?

Oh, sorry, I did not know I can edit my own post, so it is not true , just April Fool??

i don't mean to demean you, but...how old are you?

yes its not true, and think about it how can microsoft buy somethign that is free? i mean its open source so u cant reall buy something that everyone can have/modify.... they would have to make it no longer opensource, and then someone would have to be selling it, and then they would ahve to buy it... and since linux itself isnt a single unit they would ahve to buy all the seperate distros like redhat, debian, slackware etc..

The very first sentence should've given you a clue:

At a small press conference in Nepal, attended by two Sherpas and a Yak, as well as a THG stringer, Microsoft spokeswoman Avril Wonful announced that the Redmond company had acquired Linux.

Wow, you're running Red Hat.... That's incredible. I mean, who wouldn't believe that Microsoft called a press conference in Nepal attended by " two Sherpas and a Yak"?
