Microsoft Bluetooth Keyboard/mouse problem, help!

Ok guys, i have no experience with bluetooth outside of syncing my phone, etc, with my car.

My roomie just picked up a Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop 7000 bluetooth keyboard/mouse. The box says it comes with an MS bluetooth dongle, but we can't find it anywhere in the box. What i'm trying to figure out is if in the meantime while we wait for a replacement dongle, etc from the RMA, if we can use any bluetooth dongle for the keyboard and mouse.

My understanding of bluetooth is that its a set of standards, i.e. like 802.11n or 10baseTX, etc. So, the device says its bluetooth 2.0, as long as i pick up a bluetooth 2.0 dongle, it should work fine ya?

Ive been trying to research this on google and i can't seem to find sh*t, mostly its people complaining about setup processes etc, i can't find anywhere regarding if you use a different dongle if it will work.

Anyone that can help?
