too bad i usually eat lunch/dinner/snack while surfing, so, if i do get one it'll get dirty in short.

Pointless? I mean yeah if ure just at home and dont have data you want to keep secret. But im sure if i had a work computer i would get one. Looks really hassle free ( hopefully) 🙂

I believe i saw these at sams club 2 weeks ago for $39 as well.
 
The idea is to allow you to skip the password and just use your fingerprint.
By unplugging from the USB port, you would lose the "hot-swapping" of users and be required to log out and back in with the appropriate username and password.

I bought mine a while back at Sam's for $39 and am planning to install it soon. (I think)
 
If someone cuts off my finger, will they be able to gain access to my computer, or will this device know the finger is dead?

passwords are more secure...there was an article a while back where they tried to fool a bunch of biometric devices. It's not as hard as you'd think.
 
I wonder if it only stores passwords for websites or if it can store passwords for other things like AIM, StarCraft, Secure Programs, Windows Logins, etc.

Not really. I must have 30 sites that I visit and every one of them wants a password. I have stick on's all over my monitor to remember all of them Yep, I do use the same ones too, but to remember which site uses which one is still a problem. This appears to generate the password when it scans the fingerprint. I'm not going to get one right this minute, but it looks like a good frazzel saver! Of course, it would break or the OS would refuse to find the driver just when you really need it!

Makes you wonder how many attention whores are out there. I'm surprise people don't put mini disco balls in their pimped out LED cluttered case flashing to the tune of YMCA.

It doesn't generate the password, it only remembers what you type in - just like Roboform.
I would also worry about how reliable it is.
I wonder if it can handle anything but Internet Explorer. Given Microsoft's checkered past, it probably doesn't support Firefox.

I forgot which review it was that I read, but I recalled it saying that it only works with IE and didnt work with Firefox.

Edit: Oh yeah, and it only works on Windows XP I think.
