Hello All,

Can the MBSA be used to scan remote systems without having Administrative privlegas? Is there a web based version of the MBSA (not counting Windows Update)?

Big dogs above me require patch validation, but won't allow me to have an admin account on the systems (sensitive personal materials). I need to find some alternate ways.

This thread is a reference to my earlier questions: Certify Users

Thanks for any help.

All the documentation I've ever seen for MBSA indicates that you need admin privilages.

This goes back to that responsibility/authority chat from yesterday...

Can't do it remotely without admin priveledges. Have you looked into using SUS? It works a lot like a mini-Windows Update server inside your network. The reporting features aren't great but some people have written a few third party utilities that will parse the logs for you. Check out this site for more information.

Also with WUS coming reporting becomes much better than it was done in SUS 1.x.

Spyordie is right when it comes down to it though...

Ya I know. I have a meeting with the big dogs in a couple hours. Hopefully they will give me something to work with. Maybe I will just complain until they do.

Thanks
